Adventure Climbing Holidays in Morocco

Dec 6, 2010   //   by Simon   //   Courses, Morocco

We provide adventurous rock climbing holidays and private guiding in the Anti-Atlas Mountains of Morocco.  Are you fed up with wet British winters?  Do you have a sense for adventure to climb huge mountains in a warm environment and spectacular, diverse locations?  Then this will be the holiday for you.

We will provide transfers from Agadir airport to Tafroute and transport to the climbing areas, local knowledge and emergency backup if needed. (There is no mountain rescue.) The holiday is taylor made by you.  We advise on the best areas to visit but it will be entirely up to you when and where you go climbing.  It is your holiday. You may also want to visit the granite boulders, or take an afternoon trip to the famous painted boulders, or relax by the pool.  A must see is the local market!

Tafraoute is approx 3-4 hours from Agadir.  Described as one of the most relaxed destinations in Morocco, it is nestled in the Ameln valley.  The rock in the mountains is red quartzite, which is stunning, but around Tafroute itself is granite tors and boulders.

Throughout the winter months the Anti-Atlas have an almost perfect climate for climbing. Daytime temperatures can be anything from 17 to 25 degrees, dropping much lower at night.  December is traditionally the ‘wet’ month, although rain is still rare and is unlikely to prevent climbing.  Jan to April is the best time to visit. Evening temperatures can be quite chilly, and cold weather is possible at any time.
